Julie Creighton

Much of my inspiration is drawn from the splendor of the natural world. Whether painting locally or on distant travels, landscapes or city scenes, I find a region's scenic beauty a constant source of imagery. My hope is to communicate a sense of calm...evoking a special moment, place or season...offering the viewer a soft pause to the clamor of each day.

A Pacific Northest native, Julie lives and paints on tranquil Stretch Island in the South Sound. Her watercolors reflect personal expressions of her love of nature. Always ready with a sketchbook, she finds her love of watercolor the perfect companion to her love of travel. She has sketched and painted in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and throughout the United States. Since 1992, Julie’s paintings have been accepted into numerous juried art shows and recognized with awards, including Best of Show. Julie has exhibited in solo shows and as the featured artist as well as having been selected for corporate cards, calendars and commissions. Her paintings are included in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad.

With a degree in education from the University of Washington and having studied with nationally recognized artists, Julie’s career evolved from teaching children to teaching watercolor to adults. With 20 years experience teaching classes and workshops, Julie is a popular instructor who delights in sharing the joy of watercolor with others. Her goal is always to encourage students to develop their personal expression, enabling them to paint with greater confidence outside a structured environment.
