Julie Creighton

ARTIST STATEMENT
I have always been drawn to the splendor of nature. Whether painting locally or on distant travels, I find a region’s scenic beauty a constant source of inspiration as I seek to capture its essence of color and light specific to the surroundings and season. As an artist, my hope is to visually communicate, and thus share, that special moment in time with the viewer.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
As a watercolorist, Julie paints with impressionistic realism responding passionately to the medium’s characteristic freedom and spontaneity. A native of the Pacific Northwest, she divides her time between Bellevue and Stretch Island, WA. Her love of watercolor is the perfect companion to her love of travel. She has sketched and painted in Asia, Australia, Europe, and throughout the United States. Since 1992, Julie’s paintings have been accepted into numerous juried art shows and recognized with awards, including Best of Show. Julie has exhibited in solo shows and as the featured artist as well as having been selected for corporate cards, calendars and commissions. Her paintings are included in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad.

With a degree in education from the University of Washington and having studied with nationally recognized artists, Julie’s career evolved from teaching children to teaching watercolor to adults. With over 10 years experience teaching classes and workshops, Julie is a popular instructor who delights in sharing the joy of watercolor with others. Her goal is always to encourage students to develop their personal expression, enabling them to paint with greater confidence outside a structured environment.
